Well, hello there, 2017

In Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maude Montgomery said, “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?” The New Year begins with celebrations and excitement filled with promises and expectations, a clean slate. A New Year with no mistakes in it yet.

As with every other year, we will be welcoming the New Year with a period of extended prayer and fasting. What a perfect way to focus and allow God to direct the new season.

We will be fasting, like Daniel, for 21 consecutive days to set the course for our year, seek the kingdom of God (Matt 6:33) and invite spiritual, physical and mental healing into our lives.

Daniel 10:2-3. “At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips, and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning” (Joel 2:12).

However you chose to fast, we invite you to set time apart in the beginning of the year to spend time with God asking Him what His plans for 2017 are. We urge you observe and jot down what the Lord shows you during this time.

“This is the fast that I have chosen…to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke. Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth.” Isaiah 58:6

A few verses to reflect on:
