The theme and title of Arise Beloved was inspired by the words of an anonymous hymn based a passage from Song of Songs (Song of Solomon) 2:10 "Arise my love, my fair one, and come away."

"Come away to the skies, my beloved arise, and rejoice in the day thou wast born.

On this festival day, exulting away, with singing, to Zion return."
